Oil Heat Cares Extends Aid to Flood-Affected Farmer in Connecticut
Cromwell Energy employees along with students from Entech Technical Training School joined forces to install a new heating system for the Gilbert family of Rocky Hill, CT.
This family, in its fifth generation of managing the Gilbert Family farm, faced devastation due to repeated flooding that destroyed their crops for the third time in 11 years. Adding to their challenges, a leaking oil tank and a failing boiler compounded their difficulties.
Hearing of their serious trouble, Lou Spada and Rich Drapeau of Cromwell Energy stepped in, reaching out to Oil Heat Cares officials to facilitate assistance qualification for the family.
Upon approval, various manufacturers generously donated equipment, including Buderus boilers, Roth tanks, Heat-Flo Indirect water heaters, Carlin-Hydrolevel, and Caleffi controls.
Addressing another issue, Justin Romano and his team tackled the inadequate chimney of the farmhouse, installing a new liner system on a Saturday.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the OHC team, Cromwell Energy, Guaranteed Chimney Services, Entech Technical Training, and the generous donations received, the Gilbert family can now rest assured that they will be able to heat their homestead this winter safely and efficiently.
