Helping Our Neighbors In Need

A Warm Thank You to Oil Heat Cares

Dear Oil Heat Cares,

There are no words to express how thankful I am for your extreme kindness. Due to your kind hearts, I now have a brand new furnace in the place I call HOME.

In 1950, my grandparents brought a brand new house near Westover Air Force Base. My mother grew up in that house. My sister and I spent every weekend there and it was our favorite place to be. My grandparents have passed away and my mother sold the home 5 years ago to another family. It was hard to let go but I was not in a position to buy the house at that time.

The crazy summer of 2020 came and I was in Chicopee shopping.  I decided to reminisce and drive by my grandparents’ house. Coincidentally, the new family was outside and I stopped to introduce myself. After a short talk, I gave them my business card and told them to call me if they ever decide to sell the home. Two days later, they called to inform me they would like to sell me the house. I scraped together every cent I could to make this happen.

In October, I moved in and was very proud of myself. WHAT A DREAM COME TRUE! Four days later, I had an appointment to get my furnace cleaned. With great surprise, I was informed that I needed a new furnace.  I was worried and unsure of how I was going to financially handle the large expense.

I was given several referrals and Bay State Fuel was included. Lenny came to my house the next morning.  He was kind and we had a nice talk when he was looking things over. I told him a bit about my story. The next day, Lenny called to tell me about Oil Heat Cares and that he would like to submit an application to the organization on my behalf. I was in shock! I could not believe that someone wanted to help me. Due to my story, I have earned everything I have and “free” is an uncomfortable word for me. Although difficult, I decided to accept this generous offer and the appointment was made for the installation.

THANK YOU! Thank you for making a difference in my life. I will be making a donation every year at tax time so I can help you continue to make a difference.

Sincerely,

Angelica Storm Tougas
