Garden State Chapter Project 1
Members of the Garden State Chapter tackled another Oil Heat Cares project by providing a Union County family with a new oil heating system. The OHC Committee quickly agreed that this was a project that needed to be done. Besides, the chapter did most of the leg work by getting donations for the needed equipment. Twin Roth Tanks were installed, a Weil McLain steam boiler, and many fittings and supplies were donated by Weil McLain and Ridgewood Supply Company. The only thing OHC had to provide was the cost of the permit. Due to the generosity of the manufacturers, wholesalers and the local oil companies, including Wooley Fuel, Petro of Clark and Mitchell Supreme Fuel Company which donated the first load of fuel oil to the family, OHC has decided to help this family out with their future heating bills and something special for the family to enjoy. When Dorsey Finn called to let me know about this project, we learned that this family has 11 children and one of them is sick with leukemia. The family has been without heat after being shut off by their local utility 2 years ago and they’ve been keeping their home “warm” by using electric space heaters. The team of 9 Garden State Chapter members gathered at 3:00 to start the project and by 7:30 P.M. the Union County family was able to turn up the thermostat and begin to feel the warmth of their new oil fired boiler. As with all OHC projects, those that get involved with these projects become heroes within their neighborhoods by making the lives of those less fortunate just a little bit better. • Back to Showcase List |
